Why An Art Contest?
In 2008, the National Endowment of the Arts (N.E.A.) reported that "art is working for fewer Americans, a finding that is deeply disturbing to all of us who care about the arts in our country. Our 'Public Participation in the Arts Survey' reports a 5 percentage point decline in arts participation by Americans."  In their 2012/2013 Participation Report by the N.E.A., they state that: "Musical play attendance saw the first significant drop - a 9 percent rate of decline from 2008 to 2012.  Museum-going also saw a decline: 21 percent of adults (or 47 million) visited an art museum or gallery in 2012, down from 23 percent in 2008."

The Arts are an important part of our American culture and Sharon Brannigan wants to celebrate, not only the 4th of July, but our culture of art in America and in Illinois.  Sharon Brannigan supports The Arts!

Attending A Community College?  Why Not Take Part?
Creating an original artwork celebrating our nation's independence is great way to show your patriotism this year, and, have fun while doing it!  Citizens of the 3rd Congressional District are some of the most patriotic citizens in Illinois!  Let's show our pride in our country this 4th of July and support The Arts in our state and in our country!

"Thank you for being a part of this contest." -- Sharon Brannigan, Candidate for U.S. Congress.
